Al Hamra Golf Club hosts green DP World Tour and Ras Al Khaimah Championships
Al Hamra Golf Club hosts highly prestigious DP World Tour and Ras Al Khaimah Classic championships in the first two weeks of February 2022. As Al Hamra Golf Club is the first plastic-free golf club in the UAE and Middle East, making the sport greener. The DP World Tour keeps up the green drive by continuing its successful and impactful ‘No More Bottles’ initiative.
DP World Tour Ras Al Khaimah Championship
The DP World Tour presented by Phoenix Capital broke new ground as the Ras Al Khaimah Championship started off on the morning of 3rd February 2022, with the likes of 2016 Masters champion Danny Willett and local hope Ahmad Skaik vying for the honour of becoming the first-ever winner of the $2 million tournament at Al Hamra Golf Club. The championship ended on 6th of February and was won by the very talented Nicole Hojgaard.
His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, UAE Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, presented the winner’s trophy to Danish player and met players, event organizers and sponsors.
On this occasion, His Highness said, "Hosting such a prestigious event is a significant achievement for Ras Al Khaimah and is credit to all the entities involved in bringing it to fruition. Sports is a powerful means to bring people together” said H.H. Sheikh Saud: “Ras Al Khaimah has a clear vision to continuously enhance quality of life in the Emirate and we consider sports to be a fundamental element in our plans."
The Ras Al Khaimah Classic Championship
The DP World Tour returned to Ras Al Khaimah and Al Hamra Golf Club for the second successive week for the Ras Al Khaimah Classic, marking the end of a four-week run in the Middle East. The tournament kicked off on the morning of Thursday, 10th February and ends on Sunday, 13th February.
The Green Drive
13 ‘No More Bottles’ water stations have been placed across the venue at Al Hamra for the RAK Championship and RAK Classic, with players, caddies, officials, guests, volunteers and fans all having access to free filtered drinking water. The public are encouraged to bring their own bottles to refill, free of charge.
