25 Feb 2020

Ras Al Khaimah; February 25, 2020: Al Hamra, the leading real estate developer, services provider and investment company in Ras Al Khaimah, has partnered with Circ, a Berlin-based leading e-scooter company to launch a fleet of electric scooters in its integrated and award-winning community in the Northern Emirates.

Supporting its strategy of positioning Al Hamra as the destination of choice, the e-scooters will be available for residents and travellers, giving them access to the developer’s various destinations including Al Hamra Village, Waldorf Astoria Ras Al Khaimah, Ritz-Carlton Ras Al Khaimah, Al Hamra Beach, Hilton Al Hamra Beach & Golf Resort, Al Hamra Golf Club, Al Hamra Marina & Yacht Club, Al Hamra International Exhibition & Conference Centre and Al Hamra Mall.

Circ will deploy the 100 scooters via 10 to 15 docking stations that enable users to access the various attractions of Al Hamra effortlessly. In addition to offering ease of mobility, the e-scooters contribute to a greener, cleaner environment. The ‘microbility’ service will be potentially linked to public transport, contributing to more environmental sustainability.

The partnership with Circ further underlines Al Hamra’s destination enhancement strategy to establish itself as a leading integrated destination that in turn contributes to Ras Al Khaimah’s Destination Strategy to boost the tourism sector.

Christopher Hewett, Vice President - Hospitality, Al Hamra, said: “In line with our destination enhancement strategy, we are focused on adding further value to our residents and visitors by promoting greater connectivity among our varied attractions. The introduction of the e-scooters will enable residents and visitors to access all our attractions with the greatest ease.”

The e-scooters can travel up to 20 km/h and can be used along bike lanes and paved shared-use pathways. Riders can temporarily park their scooters on sidewalks and parking lanes.

Jaideep Dhanoa, Co-Founder and CEO adds: “We are grateful to partner with Al Hamra in Ras Al Khaimah to bring our innovative solution to the destinations residents and tourists. Circ e-scooters will offer an enjoyable and liberating way for people to explore the popular area in a new way, bringing equity in transportation access for everyone.”

To hire a scooter, riders only need to download the Circ app on iOS or Android and set up a new account. They can access an e-scooter that is closest to them with just AED 3 to unlock and AED 1 for every minute of use. To end the trip, users only need to park and lock their bikes through the app at an area specified on the map. There are also instructions and safety advice and in-app tutorials. Circ currently operates in 40 cities across 14 European countries and the UAE.

The pioneering design of the e-scooters, customised to tolerate the GCC road and weather conditions, features larger wheels and a wider base for better stability and control.

Al Hamra’s goal is to continue to captivate local and international visitors with the development of master-planned communities, a wide range of amenities including malls, world-class restaurants, educational institutions and premier healthcare centres as well as a choice of waterfront leisure activities, making it the most sought-after integrated neighbourhood in the UAE.
