Dubai, UAE; October 17, 2019: Supporting breast cancer awareness month this October, Al Hamra is organising a ‘Walk against Breast Cancer’ in Al Hamra Village at 4pm on Friday, 18 October for all residents and visitors. The 30-minute walk aims to celebrate survivors and raise awareness amongst residents and visitors in the Emirate.
Participants can also benefit from free breast cancer screenings conducted at Al Hamra Golf Club from 11am until 4pm on the same day. Pink Caravan’s state-of-the-art mobile medical clinic will conduct the check-ups in addition to 3D mammography and cervical cancer screenings.
RAK Medical Centre specialists will host a breast cancer awareness session while Julphar Clinic members will distribute giveaways and vouchers to the participating ladies. Visitors can also customise their key chains and pink ribbons to mark the occasion with discounted coupons and goodie bags in addition to complimentary refreshments.
According to the World Health Organisation, breast cancer is the most common cancer affecting women, with around 2.1 million diagnosed each year. Women aged over 40 are recommended to do a clinical breast exam every year. Men can also suffer from breast cancer as it usually occurs in those over the ages of 60 but can affect younger men.
Sarah Fayed, Assistant Vice President – Marketing, Communications & PR, added: “As part of our ongoing corporate social responsibility initiatives, we are raising awareness on breast cancer and the need for early screening. This is in line with our ongoing efforts to promote a healthier lifestyle among the community. Our partners, Pink Caravan, RAK Medical Centre and Julphar Clinic will bring advanced technologies and expertise to create awareness surrounding breast cancer.”
